The Soho Kids Xmas Lights Project is an initiative set up by the architect Antonio Capelao helping kids from Soho Primary School to learn about architecture and the effect that light can have in bringing people together across a community.
Last year the 21 winning designs created by these talented kids lit up the streets of Soho with wonderful festive spirit and will be joined by a further 14 designs in 2022. Credit Antonio Capelao
This year, the project commenced in April where the kids were encouraged to look into their local architecture. They explored the role of light in the buildings and areas in which they go about their everyday life. Through design workshops they were then tasked with creating their own light drawings which represent and celebrate each of their communities and backgrounds. These were presented to a judging panel who have selected 14 designs to be developed into lighting panels and displayed around the streets of Soho over the Christmas period along with the further 21 from last year.
This Christmas, Balans is acting as a sponsor for this wonderful project and are greatly excited to see Soho lit up by the designs of this fantastic initiative.
