Balans is famous for its pancakes (especially our cult following amongst night owls, as we serve them until 5AM). We have an extra special one this upcoming Pancake Day. You’re not a real Londoner until you’ve found yourself at 3AM eating pancakes with a cocktail to hand, at Balans No.60, Soho.
To celebrate a special Pancake Day back, after missing last year, Executive Head Chef Steve Wilson has come up with the ultimate drinking food for his Pancake Day 2022 special below:
The Buttermilk Chicken-strip Pancake
herby & crispy onion buttermilk fried chicken strips,
with crispy Fenns of Picadilly bacon, red onion jam, served on American Pancakes and maple syrup on the side
AND… for the perfect pairing, we are bringing to you two special guest barrelled cocktail options from local Soho bar friends, Milroy’s and Basement State.
Milroy’s Coconut Butter Old Fashioned, Coconut butter, Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Peychauds bitters, Angostura bitters, and a Basement Sate special of Buffalo Trace, Bitter Truth Pimento dram, Bob’s liquorice bitters, Angostura bitters.
Balans’ pancakes even recently got a lightly disguised shout out in the hit TV show, Ted Lasso when after a late night in Soho with his mum friends Roy Kent found himself there ‘We all ended up at G-A-Y till 2AM. and then we had crepes in Balhams with some drag queens.’
So you know we’re in good company.
